Act 48 Reviews
As an educator in PA, I will avoid any situations that may be translated by others as being "questionable". I also am more aware of and will be more determined to not let any mistreatment of students occur in my building/district.
The sources of state codes and mandatory reporting procedures are of greatest importance to me.
I learned to look at teacher's interaction with students as a risky situation. Now my meetings with students will always be an open door, well lit, distantly spaced interaction.

"I believe the live discussions allowed the staff to have a better understanding of the subject matter and to have the ability to ask questions of the instructors, which in this case, you and Paul. The clarification piece is key to ensure that the staff is understanding what is being taught.
Also, in education, there are various types of learning, many of the staff I work with are visual and auditory learners and hearing what was shared and seeing the material on the slides also allow for a better learning experience and a better understanding.
Educators, at least in my CTC, like to work in teams and having the break out sessions provide instructors an opportunity to share information and ask questions of one another is a safe space."

This training directly relates to my profession as it is ensuring that teachers are informed of their code of conduct. It has caused me to reconsider actions that occur in and outside of the workplace and how they impact the school and community in which I work.
It also better informed me of the process that occurs after a complaint is filed, which is helpful to know in case I would find myself in that situation in the future.
This new information was very valuable. I enjoyed the open discussion with other educators and appreciate their perspectives on different scenarios as it shed new light on the situation and provided a new point of view to consider.
